About Us
Tang West Market Museum is the first private National First Level Museum in China. It is a site museum with distinctive features mainly reflecting the glorious age of Tang Dynasty, silk road and commercial culture. Meanwhile,the museum is an indispensable part of the cultural industry project of Tang West Market and the core of its culture. The museum occupies a total area of 20 mu (around 13333.3㎡) of land with a construction area of 35000㎡ and display area of 8500 ㎡including 2500㎡relics preservation area. It is located in No.118 Laodong South Rd,Xi’an,Shaanxi Province.
In the total collection of more than 20,000 pieces of cultural relics, the museum mainly exhibits relics excavated from the West Market and the fine antiques collected by the founder of the museum over the past 20 years. The exhibits on display reflect a long history ranging from the Shang Dynasty(16th-11th Century BC) to the Qing dynasty (1636-1911). The collection includes mysterious bronze wares, colorful porcelains,clay figurines in various shapes, shining gold and silver wares, exquisite silk products and dedicate jade pieces as well as a great number of relics respecting ancient coins, epitaphs, religious and architectural antiques,which has laid a solid foundation for the remarkable exhibition.
The museum has been awarded the National AAAA Level Tourism Scenic Spot, the National Demonstration Base of Cultural Industry, the first batch of National Intangible Cultural Heritage Productive Protection Demonstration Base, Model of Chinese Cultural Heritage Preservation, National Science Educational Base, Asia's Top Ten Private Museums and Outstanding Contribution Awards as well as the National First Level Museum.
