Located at No. 3 Xijin West Road, Qilihe district, Lanzhou City, Gansu Province, Gansu Provincial Museum is a large-scale Comprehensive Museum in Gansu Province. Built in 1956, the building covers an area of 108 mu, the total area of the exhibition building is 28,500 square meters, the total area of the exhibition hall is 9000 square meters, the warehouse area is 3800 square meters. The Gansu Provincial Museum has a rich collection of cultural treasures from ancient times to modern times in Gansu. There are more than 80,000 pieces (sets) of cultural relics and animal and plant specimens in the collection, including 686 pieces (sets) of grade I cultural relics (including 16 national treasures) , 2,606 pieces (sets) of Grade II cultural relics and 48,164 pieces (sets) of Grade III cultural relics. The actual collection is 356248 pieces, of which 337334 are cultural relics, natural Specimens: 18,914. The collection of cultural relics is characterized by ancient fossil specimens, painted pottery, bamboo slips of the Han and Tang dynasties, treasures from the Silk Road of the Han and Tang dynasties, Buddhist art, historical materials of the modern revolution and so on. In particular, the Bronze Galloping Horse in the Eastern Han Dynasty and the "courier map" bricks in the Wei and Jin tombs were designated as the national tourism sign and postal sign respectively. By the end of 2012, the Gansu Provincial Museum had risen to the national level. The Gansu Provincial Museum has become the main front for public education and popularization of science.
