About Us

      Founded in 1960, the Yanbian Museum is an Integrated Museum of local history and Koreans's ethnic characteristics. In 2009, it was rated as a second-class National Museum and opened to the public free of charge. It was rated AAAA in 2015. It has a collection of nearly 15,000 cultural relics, of which more than 500 are of national value. The building, with a floor area of 14,570 square meters and a display area of 7,200 square meters, was opened in 2012. There are three basic exhibitions and thematic exhibitions: "Korean folklore exhibition" , "eternal life -- The history of Koreans's Revolutionary Struggle Exhibition" , "cultural relics from Yanbian area" , "the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization of human intangible Cultural Heritage: Koreans in China, agricultural music and Dance Exhibition" , "the history of Yanbian Area: Images of Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture" , and so on. On July 16,2015, General Secretary Xi Jinping visited the museum and its popularity and social influence were further enhanced. The museum has received nearly 200,000 visitors a year, and has become an important window for people to understand Yanbian and the state's external publicity.
