Dates:Qing Dynasty

Zhang Jizhi was born in He County, Anhui Province. His courtesy name was Wenfu and art name was Chuliao. He was famous for his calligraphy in the Southern Song Dynasty. He took the style of Yan Zhenqin as his model, then learned from Ouyang Xun and Chu Suilian, and finally shaped his own supple style. He specialized in writing big characters and became more powerful in his later years. It was said that he was still alive in the year of Xianchun, the Duzong reign, Song dynasty, when he was above 80 years old.
The remnants of Buddha-Avatamsaka-mahavai-pulya Sutra were refit into a volume. There is no colophon but a seal of Liang Yan. After the identification of Zhang Heng and other painting and calligraphy experts, it has been confirmed as a real painting of Zhang Jizhi.
