A four-wheeled light reconnaissance vehicle was required by the United States Army in June 1940. At that time, the designs of three auto companies including Willys stood out. Among them, Willys MA performed well in the test, and it has strong power and lower cost, thus obtaining the final manufacturing right. Later, the Willys MA was improved into MB, which was equipped by American Army after mass production. The word “JEEP” also began to appear from this time. In American slang at the time, “JEEP” was used to describe something extraordinary that could cope with various situations, just as Willys off-road vehicle could adapt to the various military needs of the Allies and was loved by people. The Willys Company officially registered the trademark “JEEP” in 1950. Since then, “JEEP” has gradually become the synonym of off-road vehicle, and the Willys MB, as one of the earliest modern off-road vehicle, has had significant influence over the later development. The Willys MB off-road vehicle on display was produced in 1943, all the accessories of it have been retained, once served in the US Army in the World War II. As a second-class collection of the museum, it can still be driven now . It was collected in 2010.
